TANYA IVORY
Tanya Ivory is a former Fashion Design major of University of North Texas in Denton, near Dallas. Tanya completed an internship with the Lorch Co., an established, long standing Dallas apparel manufacturing company and worked for R & A Collections, a manufacturer whose primary customer was J.C.Penney. Upon returning to her hometown, Houston,TX., she designed her own line under THE IVORY COLLECTION label, which was carried by upscale boutiques in the Houston area. She has been featured by Houston media including Channel 8, Channel 11, The Houston Post, The Houston Chronicle, and Houston Style Magazine. Tanya Ivory is the Designer for Presenting Sponsor - Bellaire Custom Homes' denim jacket featured in the Dallas Collection 2001 to benefit DIFFA. Miss Ivory was awarded the Honorable Mention, Ready-To-Wear 1996 Fine Arts Fashion Award by the Textiles and Costume Institute of The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston. She has also been recognized as a Houston Premier Designer 1995 Honoree of the "Let The Fashions Begin" Sickle Cell Association fund-raiser fashion show. Tanya has taken university classes in Radio, Television, Film and combined her love of film and fashion to produce yet another career in costume design and wardrobe. Tanya assisted the Emmy Award winning Costume Designer, Stephen Chudej, as a Costumer/Dayplayer for an ABC movie, King of The World, Muhammad Ali, the story behind his early years, which aired on ABC. Not only did this talented designer work behind the scenes on this project, but she was an extra on camera as well Miss Ivory has worked in wardrobe with Dominion Films on music videos for Rap-a-Lot Records. Tanya was Set Costumer/ Tailor and also a Featured Extra in The Pirate Island of Jean Lafitte, produced and directed by Grant Mitchell. This feature film currently airs at the Pier 21 Theater and will continue to air for many years as one of Galveston's tourist attractions. Miss Ivory was also Wardrobe Supervisor for Fifth Ward which was directed by Greg Carter and shown at the Museum of Fine Arts and various film festivals around the country. Director, Laurence Williams who took notice of an article about her designs in a local paper, introduced her to work in film. Looking to the future, Tanya Ivory has many plans of expansion and will go as far as her talent will take her. Current projects include expanding into the home furnishings accessory market under the label, THE IVORY PALACE. This line includes decorative pillows and fabulously scented potpourri sachets, all uniquely handmade with a touch of regal elegance and a hint of Couture. Tanya is a gifted designer, who has artistic talent, possessing the ability to sketch, paint and sew and counts God as her biggest inspiration. She recently realized a lifelong dream of going to Paris, city of lights and fashion capitol of the world. While there she visited the studio of Yves Saint-Laurent upon the recommendation of American Fashion Designer, Anthony Mark Hankins. Hankins is an inspiration to her as well as Patrick Kelly, Calvin Klein, Chanel, Christian Dior, Yves Saint-Laurent, and Edith Head.
